Pacific Palisades
In Southern California, Pacific Palisades' north boundary is the rugged Santa Monica Mountains and six canyons surround it with part of it being on the 3 miles of coastal bluffs known as palisades, thus a natural for the name Pacific Palisades. Because of the proximity to the ocean, the ocean breezes keep the air clean in Pacific Palisades. The town is within the city limits of Los Angeles and retains its small village atmosphere with gorgeous panoramic views of the ocean, the undeveloped mountains and forested canyons. Truly a beautiful country and coastal atmosphere within the city limits of Los Angeles.
In the 1920's and 1930's, Will Rogers made his home here. This 186 acres is now established as Will Rogers State Park and is still a working ranch as well as a park open to the public. Although part of a metropolitan area, Pacific Palisades boasts a number of parks and Will Rogers State Park borders Topanga State Park. The mean summer time temperature is 69.2 degrees and the mean winter temperature is 56.1, with an average rainfall of 15.53 inches per year. Many movies stars presently call Pacific Palisades home. Pacific Palisades is home to approximately 27,000 residents in 23, 431 acres. The Chamber of Commerce is very active and sponsors a variety of community events throughout the year. The town's tree lined streets, outdoor cafes and unique shops add to small village and community atmosphere. It is a beautiful and picturesque village setting close to all the advantages found in large metropolitan areas.
LOCATION Pacific Palisades is located in Southern California in Los Angeles County. It is north of Santa Monica and between Brentwood and Malibu off of coastal highway 1. It is west of the Los Angeles city center and part of the Los Angeles-Long Beach metropolitan area.

BRIEF HISTORY In the Los Angeles basin and surrounding areas, the Native Americans were the first inhabitants. Next came the Spanish and then the Mexican government took control. The canyons were named after the Spanish and Native American days. Ysidro Reyes and Francisco Marquez owned the original Spanish land grants for 6,656 acres-Rancho Boca de Santa Monica and Rancho San Vincente y Santa Monica. This encompassed the land just north of Topanga Canyon to south of Entrada Dr. Ysidro Reyes settled in 1838 in the Huntington area of Pacific Palisades. Later he moved across the canyon so that his sheep were in a place better protected from the wolves Cattle were grazed on the grassy headlands, crops were grown on the mesas, the mountains were wilderness and there were only 3 dirt roads for the horses and carts of the ranchers. The roads were Entrada, Marquez, and Malibu. Simple adobe homes were the residences then. In 1872, Colonel R.S. Baker from San Francisco bought part of Reyes' property. The Pacific Palisades area was first subdivided in 1920 and now has 9,400 homes. The oldest building in town was built in 1892 on Wilshire Boulevard and in 1927 it was cut in two pieces and moved to Pacific Palisades by mule team. It is an architectural example of clean lines with functionality with its Mission Revival style exterior and craftsman-style interior.
ABOUT EDUCATION Pacific Palisades boasts a variety of public and private elementary schools as well as a variety of preschools. The public elementary schools have very small class sizes with a good student to teacher ratio. Cosmetic Improvements >A Sparkling Kitchen
There's no doubt about it--the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the whole house for many prospective buyers. Smart sellers will take a close look at how they can make their kitchen a real asset when it is time to sell.
Your kitchen doesn't need to be state-of-the-art to be attractive. The first step toward enhancing your kitchen's appeal is a thorough cleaning. This includes the walls, cabinets (inside and out), floors, and appliances. Keep the counter tops as clear as possible of small appliances and gadgets. Consider low-cost improvements which can make a big difference, such as a coat of paint, fresh wallpaper, or new floor covering. Be sure to keep the kitchen sparkling when the house is being shown. This means no dirty dishes in the sink or moldy cucumbers in the refrigerator. This extra effort will pay great dividends!
